Every new mom deserves all the care she can get and giving her a new mom care package is one way to let her know you are thinking of her.
There are so many gifts you can give a mom that she will actually love, however, one gift type I have found most new moms never forget, is one that also puts her health and wellbeing into consideration and this is why giving her a new mom care package will be super appreciated.
It is so easy to get caught up in the excitement of the new baby. Everyone becomes so eager to finally meet the new baby they’d all been waiting for.
Before becoming a mom, my favorite gift of choice for new moms was diapers. Statistics have shown babies go through over 3,000 diapers in the first year alone (I wonder who took the time to carry out this study) and I knew I could do no wrong giving a new gift.
However, going through the birthing experience myself opened my eyes to a whole new reality and that’s the fact that new moms need some care too.
The fourth trimester of pregnancy (where you heal from the stress of pregnancy and the rigors of birthing) and the first week after delivery where you adjust to your new role as a mom can take a toll on you and getting that extra attention and pampering will be great for your physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
The first week after I had my daughter, I thought I would go crazy. Having to feed another person around the clock (my daughter had mixed feeding from birth), the stress of having breast milk that wasn’t meeting the demand, and the obvious lack of sleep all combined to make me one huge ball of grumpy and slightly frustrated being.
My second was a bit easier, but only slightly so. It was a little easier adjusting to my role as a mom again as I knew what to expect and prepared for it.
Now, when going to see a new mom, I try to consider her challenges and give gifts that would make an impact at this time.

Thankfully, there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to giving a gift that’s also for the mom. The best kinds of gifts, however, are those that tick the following:

Whatever gift you’re thinking of including in the new mom care package should be one that would be especially useful to the new mom now and also for a few months.
When I had my son, one of the gifts I got was a Weight Watcher book and while I appreciated the idea behind that gift at the time, it didn’t fit in with my goal. It wasn’t really a bad gift, however, I wasn’t exactly looking to watch my weight at the time so I ended up giving it out.
– Appeals to the Mom
You also want a gift that appeals to the new mom’s personality. It wouldn’t do to give a gift that, while it seems sensible, would mean very little to her or one that might not likely be useful to her for a long while.

These gifts are not bad in themselves, however, because they are popular, everyone else might be giving one of these and the new mom will end up with a ton of the same gift and fewer of those she really needs.
For instance, a new mom who gets a lot of newborn-size diapers will have her newborn outgrow this size in a few weeks, leaving her with a few diapers she’ll no longer need.
